The Art of Giving Interviews!

From the day I have graduated from university I have faced the issue of landing a good job. To get a job you have to go through interviews and nor just one or two but many interviews. Have you ever thought after giving an interview that you did and say all the right things? were you in your best self, have you given all the right impressions, should you have asked questions when the interviews asked you "do you have any questions?"

I am no Guru so I cant really use great imaginative concepts but what I can give my reader is a detailed analysis of my experiences and what I have understood so far after giving numerous interviews in the last 3 years.

To start with, when you go far an interview, "your 50% interview is based on your appearance" this is not my personal analysis but its been a result of psychological analysis. When a person walks to us, we immediately form an opinion about him or her based entirely on their appearance. If you are not dressed appropriately you only stand a 50% chance of getting the job. However, it may vary from case to case.

Another point to consider while preparing for an interview is to at-least have a brief overview of the Company and its products. Once I want for an interview to a very well known Pharma Concern and the first question Director HR asked me was: "Can you name any three medicines under our umbrella?" (Oops! No idea!) It's embarrassing as well as  a very negative point to start a conversation.

Remember, in interview's questions like "Give us one incident where you have handle a difficult audience or a fellow employee?", "Tell us one new thing you have initiated in the organization in your previous role?" or "Highlight 4 of your strengths and weaknesses, how can you turn your weaknesses to opportunities?" are usually asked. Such questions leave a person blank if you are not prepared. It happens because it is difficult to name and describe such events on a minutes notice. Prepare yourself before hand, review your Cv so that you know the areas that can likely be highlighted during the interview and also on your professional lives issues, problems and outcomes, the tasks you have handled and the process you have gone through to achieve them. Also there are websites and articles that can give you a list of questions that are asked during an interview.

Usually when the interview is about to end the person is asked "Do you have any Questions?" Never say NO! It gives a bad impression. Ask questions like "What do you expect from the person who will get this position?" , "Where do you see the person on this post in next five years?" or "If I am hired what targets would you like me to achieve in next 6 months?"

These are the basics that a person should keep in mind while giving an interview. Remember! its different for every situation and nothings a perfect fit. But, its good to be prepared before hand.

So, Dress well, act mature, go through the company profile, pin-point your key areas and well......just BE YOURSELF! Remember you can do it!!!
